Mark Andrews might have some thoughts on the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, but the Baltimore Ravens tight end says he has not shared them publicly.
A quote that was attributed to Andrews was shared on social media Tuesday and viewed by millions of accounts. The quote included some strong remarks about Kirk being shot and killed while speaking at a college in Utah last week.
“Football should be about the game, the competition, and the fans — not politics. Stop bringing up Charlie Kirk, because it has nothing to do with what we do on the field,” the quote read.
For whatever reason, the quote was attributed to Andrews. It is unclear who made the comments (if anyone), but Andrews took to social media on Thursday to distance himself from them.
“This is 100% fabricated. You got the wrong person,” Andrews wrote on X.

Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, was a popular conservative political commentator. There have been a number of controversial takes about his death, and multiple people within the sports world have lost their jobs over things they said about Kirk’s murder.
It is unclear how or why Andrews got roped into the conversation, but the quote was another reminder of the importance of checking sources.
