Matt Forte: Trade rumors about me are ‘fake news’
Matt Forte has heard about your trade rumors, and he’s not buying them.
The New York Jets running back on Thursday said trade talks involving him are “fake news.”

Forte’s source for not believing the trade rumors is pretty solid — Jets GM Mike Maccagnan.
So where did this all start? On Tuesday, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero said Forte was on the trade block.
#Jets have gauged trade market for RB Matt Forte, who’s healthy now, per sources. But it’d be very tough to move his $4M guaranteed salary.

Forte turns 32 in December and is coming off a season where he averaged 3.7 yards per carry. Given his declining skills, age and $4 million salary, it’s unlikely the Jets could get much for him, if they are indeed trying to trade him. He will likely split carries with Bilal Powell this season.
