Matt Stafford left Monday night’s game against the New York Jets after taking a big hit to his body.
The Detroit Lions quarterback attempted a pass on a second down in the third quarter that went incomplete. He was hit by two different Jets defenders on the play — one from behind and the other from the front.

Some media members believed the shot from the front was particularly bad for Stafford because it hit him in the ribs, which he’s said in the past are the worst for him.
Stafford took a helmet right to the ribs on the play. He told me last week rib injuries are the worst for him because of his arm angles.

Stafford was 14 of 26 for 182 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions prior to the injury. Backup Matt Cassel replaced him in the game, but Stafford re-entered before missing much time and was intercepted.
