The Titans reportedly reached an agreement on Thursday with former Buccaneers director of player personnel Jon Robinson, who will serve as Tennessee’s general manager. The team is now in need of a head coach, but there’s a chance Mike Mularkey could still get the job.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Mularkey has been given “strong indications” that he will remain the head coach of the Titans.
Mike Mularkey has been given strong indications that the #Titans job is his, and that's the belief on the staff. But they'll still interview

That is consistent with other reports we have heard since the season ended, though Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is still a name to watch.
As Shalise Manza Young of Yahoo Sports notes, Robinson has a history with McDaniels and might want him as his head coach. Robinson was a scout with the Patriots from 2002-2008. Plus, there was speculation that McDaniels was interested in the Titans job before Robinson agreed to his deal.
Mularkey has a record of 18-39 as a head coach, and he certainly wouldn’t be the sexy pick for the job. McDaniels ultimately failed as head coach of the Broncos and made his way back to New England, but he is still just 39 and has played a role in all four of the Patriots’ championships. The thought of him working with the likes of Marcus Mariota and Dorial Green-Beckham definitely has appeal.
