Mike Zimmer admits he gets annoyed by speculation about his job status
Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer led his team to a road upset on Sunday just days after speculation arose about his job status, and don’t think he hasn’t noticed.
Zimmer spoke to Deion Sanders on NFL Network Sunday after his team’s 26-20 overtime win against the New Orleans Saints to advance to the NFC Divisional round. Zimmer was asked if he was bothered by speculation about his position given the success he’d had, and Zimmer gave the honest answer: he’s sick of hearing it.
Wow. Very honest of Zimmer when asked if the talk of his job bothers him. I hate that he has to listen to this crap too! pic.twitter.com/yLPAXeOlPL

It’s a thoroughly refreshing bit of honesty. Zimmer is 57-38-1 as Vikings coach, but his lack of consistent playoff success has worked against him. Entering a contract season next year, speculation has grown about his future, but the Vikings tried to silence that earlier in the week. An upset playoff win will do an even better job of quieting those rumors. Zimmer, meanwhile, will keep coaching, no matter what disrespect he feels he’s being subjected to.
