MRI confirms Jimmy Garoppolo suffered torn ACL
The San Francisco 49ers seemed fairly certain that Jimmy Garoppolo’s season was over after he was carted off the field Sunday with a knee injury, and their fears have been realized.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Garoppolo underwent an MRI on his left knee Monday that confirmed he has a torn ACL.

Garoppolo left his team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after taking what looked like a nasty hit, but he actually suffered the knee injury before being contacted by a defender. Non-contact injuries are often worse, and that was the case with Garoppolo’s.
Garoppolo was having his best game of the season prior to going down, as he completed 20-of-30 passes for 251 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also led the Niners to an impressive win over the Detroit Lions the week before, but they will now have to find ways to win without their franchise quarterback going forward.
