Pat Shurmur, Mike Francesa feuding over interview cancellation
There’s a new beef in New York, and it’s between the head coach of the New York Giants and one of the city’s most prominent media personalities.
Pat Shurmur and WFAN host Mike Francesa have traded barbs since Friday. Shurmur cancelled his scheduled weekly appearance on Francesa’s program, leading the host to criticize Shurmur on Twitter for his perceived lack of accountability and unwillingness to answer tough questions.
Pat has every right to cancel our weekly spot. But, it leaves very few places where he will be asked a tough question.

Shurmur was clearly aware of the remarks, as he subtly trolled Francesa after the Giants’ 32-31 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Pat Shurmur to the media: “By the way, you guys ask me a lot of hard questions. Don’t let anybody say you don’t.”
That was for @MikeFrancesa, by the way.

Francesa was obviously not going to let Shurmur’s jibe go unanswered, and he responded on Monday.
I’m sure Coach Shurmur thinks they are all hard questions. As he found yesterday, a lot easier to answer when he wins. He is welcome back any time. Winning makes everybody less sensitive.

Francesa is, of course, no stranger to mixing it up with leading sports personalities. The reasons for Shurmur’s cancellation remain something of a mystery, even if Francesa is convinced he knows why. Shurmur is probably not interested in getting into a back-and-forth here, but it’s still worth watching.
