Pat Shurmur not giving public a ‘pound of flesh’ over Beckham comments
Pat Shurmur may not have been happy over Odell Beckham Jr’s comments about the New York Giants, but he’s not going to publicly chastise the wide receiver over it.
Beckham gave an interview to ESPN’s Josina Anderson that has been aired in parts over a few days. The part publicized on Friday showed Beckham criticizing the team’s energy. Shurmur didn’t like the criticism and had Beckham apologize to the team.
Things continued as Beckham also questioned the team’s playcalling and play by Eli Manning.
After Sunday’s 33-31 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Shurmur declined to publicly reprimand Beckham, saying it served no purpose.
Pat Shurmur: I’m not going to give the publoc a pound of flesh on this [Odell Beckham]. That would make me small, not strong. That’s the type of thing that can galvanize a locker room, the locker room handled it. Finito. #Giants

Instead, what the public got is a report saying Shurmur was “livid” over Beckham’s interview.
The Giants have major problems — much more beyond just Beckham’s comments.
