Giants coach disagrees with Odell Beckham’s comment about team energy

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. blames his team’s poor play on a lack of energy, but his coach isn’t quite on the same page.

After Beckham said he felt the Giants didn’t bring enough energy on a daily basis, coach Pat Shurmur blamed execution for the team’s 1-3 start instead.

“I do know this, our team has a heck of a lot of heart. Our team plays with a lot of energy,” Shurmur said Friday, via Jordan Ranaan of ESPN. “What we haven’t done is we haven’t really executed quite as well as we need to yet. That is really … instead of energy, it’s more execution. And I think that is what we’re all striving for.”

The Giants’ problems are not new. In fact, at one point this season, their struggles were so extensive that Beckham didn’t even remember his last win. Eli Manning is struggling and the offense as a whole doesn’t produce enough for the team to be good. That has more to do with their struggles than energy.
