Patriots expecting to have Gronkowski, Burkhead back for Week 6
The absences of Rob Gronkowski and Rex Burkhead are not expected to last beyond Week 5.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the New England Patriots expect to have both players back for their Week 6 game against the New York Jets.
Gronk was a late addition to the injury report on Wednesday and was inactive for the team’s Thursday night game against the Bucs with a thigh injury. This was his first missed game of the season.
Burkhead has been out since suffering a rib injury in Week 2. The 27-year-old running back has five rushes for 18 yards and four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown this season.
New England could use both players — particularly Gronk. They have been able to get by with Dion Lewis and James White seeing similar action to Burkhead, but few players can offer the same kind of red zone target as Gronk.
New England has plenty of time off before facing the Jets on Oct. 15.
