The New England Patriots are always looking for a new competitive edge, and they’re certainly going for some bold methods with their latest hire.
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the Patriots have hired Joe Kim, a martial arts expert, as a pass rush consultant for the 2-18 season. Kim will work with defensive line coach Brendan Daly to help defenders improve hand-to-hand combat skills.
This is not the first time Kim has worked in the NFL, as 10 other NFL teams have used him as a consultant over the last 25 years. He and Bill Belichick go way back, as Belichick gave him his first job in football with the Cleveland Browns in 1992.
Despite all the supposed internal strife within the Patriots, this seems like a sign that Belichick still has plenty of power within the New England organization.
