Raiders bring back ex-head coach amid staff changes
The Las Vegas Raiders made some major coaching staff changes following their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, and they have now brought back a familiar face.
Norv Turner has come out of retirement to take a job with the Raiders, NFL Network reported on Tuesday. Turner’s son, Scott Turner, is currently the pass game coordinator in Las Vegas and could take over playcalling duties now that former offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has been dismissed.
The #Raiders are hiring one of the NFL’s most respected offensive minds, bringing in Norv Turner as an assistant to help guide their offense, per me, @MikeGarafolo and @TomPelissero.

The 72-year-old Turner was last with the Carolina Panthers as offensive coordinator for two seasons under Ron Rivera in 2018 and 2019. He was moved to the role of special assistant to the head coach after Rivera was fired during the 2019 season.
Turner was the head coach of the Raiders for two seasons in 2004 and 2005. He finished with a record of 9-23. He also coached the Chargers from 2007-2012 and has worked as an offensive assistant for several other teams.
Turner’s career took off after he won two Super Bowls as offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s. He has long been one of the most respected offensive minds in football, so the Raiders are hoping he can help fix some of their issues over the second half of the season.
