Report: Ravens may try to trade John Harbaugh

John Harbaugh

The status of Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is incredibly intriguing, and one report says the team could even try to trade him.

Harbaugh only had one year left on his contract, and there was thinking the two sides would part ways. However, the Ravens went on a big run after Joe Flacco got hurt and Lamar Jackson stepped in at quarterback. That led the Ravens to shockingly announce on Dec. 21 that Harbaugh would return as the team’s head coach in 2019 and the two sides were talking about a contract extension. A recent report stated that Harbaugh may not sign an extension.

So what’s going on? Fansided reported on Sunday that the Ravens may want to try trading Harbaugh. They say the team is tired of Harbaugh meddling with personnel matters since Ozzie Newsome retired as GM. By announcing that they plan to retain Harbaugh for another season, that could prompt another team to try and offer something for him in a trade.

This seems to mesh with what Adam Schefter reported earlier in the day about teams believing the Ravens could be convinced to part ways with Harbaugh.

In his 11 seasons as Baltimore’s head coach, Harbaugh has produced eight winning seasons, two 8-8 seasons, and only one losing season. They’ve made the playoffs six times under him, winning a Super Bowl.
