Ray Rice: I’m not giving up on playing in NFL
The odds of Ray Rice ever playing in the NFL again are very slim, but the former Baltimore Ravens star has no interest in throwing in the towel.
During an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” Thursday, Rice said he is not ready to accept retirement.
“I do want to play football again,” he said. “I’m not ready to give up.”
A few teams have supposedly showed interest in Rice, but he has never really been close to signing a contract. He even acknowledged that he knew the chances were slim once training camp and the preseason ended.
“I thought early in the year, I would have loved to go to training camp and be around and learn the offense and do things like that,” Rice said. “The later it got for me, my workouts didn’t change, but I told my agents to just tell me when it’s real.”
Rice has done some minor campaigning to join teams that have been affected by injuries, but it seems like no one is listening. Most of that has to do with the disturbing video that showed him knocking his then-fiancee unconscious, while some is due to the fact that he is 28 and showed signs of slowing down before the domestic violence incident.
Rice probably shouldn’t hold his breath.
