Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may need at least a month to recover after he underwent knee surgery earlier this week.
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the initial timetable of Roethlisberger being out only two or three weeks may have been overly optimistic.

The Steelers have a bye in Week 8, and all indications have been that Roethlisberger will have a chance to play coming out of it. The procedure he underwent on his torn meniscus was likened more to a clean-up than a major surgery, but one report indicated Big Ben could miss “extended time” if a full surgery was needed.
Roethlisberger has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, and Landry Jones will start in his place.
