Report: Josh Gordon failed drug test for marijuana in March
Josh Gordon may have to wait a while longer before he is reinstated, as the Cleveland Browns wide receiver reportedly failed yet another drug test last month.
According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, Gordon failed an NFL-administered drug test in March after he tested positive for marijuana and dilute. While the level of marijuana present was reportedly below the allowable threshold of 35 nanograms per milliliter, the fact that the sample was diluted was enough for Gordon to fail the test, as that could indicate he tried to cover something up.
Garafolo adds that the positive test does not necessarily close the door on Gordon’s reinstatement, but he applied in February and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had not yet made a decision. Goodell will almost certainly take the latest failed test into consideration when ruling on Gordon’s future.
Gordon, who missed all of last season after testing positive for alcohol while in the NFL’s substance abuse program, was said to be close to reinstatement back in February. It’s unclear how much this set him back. One of the 24-year-old’s former teammates recently said that Gordon had hit rock bottom and learned from his mistakes.
The Browns have hinted that they would welcome Gordon back, but that may have been before they knew about his latest positive test.
