San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster is getting some added motivation heading into Sunday’s game.
Earlier this week, Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith hinted at beating the Niners in Week 16 to clinch the AFC South title by calling the game a “hat and T-shirt week,” per Mark Long of the Associated Press.

When asked about Smith’s comments on Friday, the rookie Foster took exception, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.

“Oh, a hat and T-shirt week? Oooohhh, okay,” said Foster. “This is a hat and T-shirt week. But guess what, we’re going to have to take it off then.”
In truth, all the Jaguars need to clinch the division is a loss or a tie by the Tennessee Titans against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. But between Smith’s comments and Foster’s further personal motivation, the Niners will be determined to make it that much harder for the Jags.
