Roquan Smith placed on injured reserve with torn pectoral

Roquan Smith

Roquan Smith’s season is over after the Chicago Bears linebacker suffered a torn pectoral in Thursday’s game.

Coach Matt Nagy announced Monday that Smith has been moved to injured reserve and will not play again in 2019.

This was the fear after Smith was injured in Thursday night’s win over the Dallas Cowboys. Smith was trying to bring down Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott on what turned out to be a touchdown run.

Smith had 100 total touchdowns and two sacks in a standout season. Given what he’s done in his first two years in the NFL, it’s easy to see why he’s considered one of the game’s best young linebackers. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to continue his on-field progress until 2020.
