The highly-anticipated release of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film is upon us, and we know many of you sports fans will be rushing out to catch one of the first showings as soon as you punch out of work on Friday. Just know that Russell Wilson already beat you to it.

Apparently Wilson was treated to an early showing of the movie, which is based on the first of a three-book series that has taken the female population by storm.

Thanks for the early showing of #50ShadesOfGrey late last night.. #EmeraldCity Great movie.

If an NFL quarterback can sit down and watch “Fifty Shades of Grey,” why can’t we?

A large portion of the movie was filmed in Seattle, which is what Wilson was referencing in his tweet. It seems like people got on his case about seeing it almost immediately.

Saw a movie filmed in the town I call home. Provocative/disturbing no doubt but that does not make me less Faithful. Have a blessed day!

We’re not judging, Russ. You all remember the play that ended Wilson’s season, right? If seeing “Fifty Shades of Grey” is a way for Russell to get his mind off of things, we don’t blame him.
