Russell Wilson reportedly pushed for Seahawks to sign Antonio Brown
The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their wide receiver corps this week when they claimed Josh Gordon off waivers, and Gordon apparently was not the only troubled former New England Patriot that they considered adding to the mix.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Sunday that the Seahawks entertained the possibility of signing Antonio Brown before they claimed Gordon. Russell Wilson was reportedly in favor of the move Brown and pushed for it.
On ESPN, Adam Schefter said the Seahawks did their due diligence on Antonio Brown before claiming Josh Gordon Friday — QB Russell Wilson even pushed for Brown. Schefter also mentioned there are three teams interested in signing him.

Schefter was told by Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus that there are “a few teams that are very interested in signing Antonio once this process is over.”
Brown’s talent is undeniable. The 31-year-old made a huge impact in the lone game in which he played for the Patriots, and he looked like he was going to be a natural fit with Tom Brady. However, he was facing a sexual assault lawsuit at the time and then accused of sexual misconduct by a second woman, and New England parted ways with him after he sent troubling text messages to the second accuser.
The NFL could still place Brown on the commissioner’s exempt list, but there is no need to do so while he remains a free agent. He is said to be in a standoff with the league over his status, and a team is unlikely to sign him as long as that remains the case.
