Ryan Fitzpatrick listed as Dolphins’ starting QB ahead of Josh Rosen
Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores recently praised Josh Rosen for the improvement he has shown throughout the offseason, but apparently the former first-round pick has not done enough to lock down a starting job in advance of Week 1.
The Dolphins released their first official depth chart on Monday, and Rosen was listed behind longtime veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick. Many thought Fitzpatrick would serve as the backup behind Rosen after Miami sent a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for Rose. While that could still happen, Fitzpatrick is obviously in the lead thus far.
Flores had said earlier in the offseason that Rosen had a lot to learn, but he praised him more recently for the improvement he has made “across the board.” There’s still plenty of time for Rosen to beat out Fitzpatrick, and the Dolphins are hoping he will be their quarterback long term. However, they will have no problem going with Fitzpatrick in Week 1 if Rosen can’t do enough in the preseason.
