Seahawks reportedly want to sign Devonta Freeman with Rashaad Penny injured
Adam Kaplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reported on Wednesday that the Seahawks have made a contract offer to Freeman. The veteran running back is looking for more money, however.
Man, @caplannfl is on fire @FantasyPts. Just said #Seahawks have made an offer to Devonta Freeman because they don’t think Rashaad Penny will be ready for Week 1.
Freeman is asking for more than the offer. Seahawks holding their position.

Freeman, who was released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this offseason, has a history of knee problems. He appeared in just two games in 2018 because of a knee injury, though he played in 14 last season. The 28-year-old struggled, rushing for just 656 yards and averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per carry.
The Seahawks likely view Freeman as a proven veteran who can fill a void while Penny is out, and it’s no surprise they don’t want to spend big for him. Freeman could change his stance depending upon how many other offers he receives.
