Detroit Lions defensive lineman Snacks Harrison finished up a difficult season on Sunday, and it may turn out to be his last.
Harrison admitted that he had struggled to play up to his standards due to the physical toll of the sport, and said through tears that he would not return in 2020 unless he felt he could be the best player he could be.

Harrison only turned 31 in November, and he was seeking a new contract at the start of the season. It’s pretty clear that his physical struggles really came to the forefront during the season and this isn’t something he expected to be considering at this stage. Once one of the league’s best run-stoppers, Harrison wasn’t quite as dominant this year as the entire Detroit defense struggled. This will clearly be a difficult decision for him, but it certainly sounds like he’s leaning toward retirement.
