One potential AFC contender may be gearing up for an aggressive pursuit of wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have strong interest in Adams and are making an “aggressive” offer for him, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. The Steelers have already been in touch with the Las Vegas Raiders about a possible trade.

A potential pursuit of Adams does not come as a huge surprise. The Steelers made a run at wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason before he ultimately stayed with the San Francisco 49ers. Though that pursuit was unsuccessful, it signified quite clearly that the team is not happy with its wide receiver options and was willing to pay up for a No. 1.

While the Steelers are interested in Adams, it is not clear if Adams is as interested in them. Reports suggest that the Raiders wide receiver has his heart set on going to one team, though there are said to be a handful of other teams he would also be open to. That ultimately might not matter, as Adams does not have any direct say in where he goes unless the Raiders choose to take his preferences into account.

Ultimately, this could come down to whether the Steelers meet the Raiders’ lofty asking price. If they are going to be aggressive, that could give them a big advantage.
