Steven Jackson reportedly meeting with Patriots
Free agent running back Steven Jackson is reportedly scheduled to meet with the New England Patriots on Wednesday.
ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that the Patriots and Jackson have “mutual interest” and notes that Jackson has played under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Jackson, 32, appeared in 15 games for the Atlanta Falcons last season and rushed for 707 yards on 190 carries. He has battled some hamstring issues through his career, but the veteran has appeared in 12 or more games in each of his 11 NFL seasons.
New England lost LeGarrette Blount to a season-ending injury in Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans. Earlier this year, dynamic playmaker Dion Lewis went down with a torn ACL after formally introducing himself to Rex Ryan. The Patriots will now be relying on Brandon Bolden and James White to carry the load. Some veteran depth might come in handy.
