Report: Su’a Cravens expected to return to Redskins

Su'a Cravens

Washington Redskins safety Su’a Cravens did not play in Week 1 after he chose to remain away from the team while he contemplated retirement, and apparently he has made a decision on his NFL future.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported on Sunday that Cravens is expected to return to the Redskins at some point this week. Cravens’ agent has been in touch with the team and Washington head coach Jay Gruden has had discussions with Cravens about both football and life. Those close to Cravens say his passion for football never faded.

However, Rapoport notes that the situation is “complex and fluid,” and Cravens returning to the Redskins may not necessarily mean all is well.

Cravens underwent a knee operation last month and could still be dealing with some health issues related to that, but Gruden’s recent comments about the situation made it seem like the situation has less to do with the injury and more to do with personal factors. Washington used a second-round pick on Cravens last year, so they would obviously love to have the former USC star back at 100 percent health — both physical and mental.
