Jay Gruden: Su’a Cravens dealing with personal issues
The Washington Redskins have given Su’a Cravens four weeks to make a decision about his football future.
Cravens, a second-round pick last year, was placed on the exempt/left squad list and will have four weeks to decide whether he wants to continue playing. The defensive back underwent a knee operation last month and has been contemplating retirement.
On Tuesday, Washington head coach Jay Gruden said Cravens is dealing with some personal issues.
Gruden says of Cravens that he has passion for football still but has some personal issues and "things in his life" that he had to tend to.

Gruden says "the way he handled it was a professional way." Says he understands. "Sometimes your personal life is more important."

Gruden does think Cravens wants to continue his career.
Gruden "I think he wants to play … there are some things weighing on his mind he has to take care of."

Cravens, who was a linebacker coming out of USC, dealt with a concussion and an arm injury last year, and then he underwent the knee surgery. Those issues could also be factors turning him off of football for the time being.
