
Taysom Hill will be paid handsomely to back up Drew Brees in 2020, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have an on-field role at some point.
Hill’s versatility means he can spell Brees and play alongside him. Hill himself sees his role as similar to what he did in the playoffs against Minnesota, when he had a huge impact early on.
Taysom says he sees his role being more like it was against Minnesota last year. Wants to dial back on special teams a little bit.

Less special teams means more offense, and Hill essentially sparked the Saints to an early lead in that playoff game, even though they eventually lost it.
We know Hill is the Saints’ quarterback of the future. He’s being paid to contribute now, though, and Sean Payton will have to get imaginative to find a role for his backup quarterback.
