The New Orleans Saints may have the best quarterback depth chart in the NFL heading into 2020.
The Saints made some major moves at the QB position over the weekend. A report surfaced on Sunday morning that they have agreed to a one-year deal with Jameis Winston, who will serve as a backup behind Drew Brees. Hours later, news broke that New Orleans has signed Taysom Hill to a new two year-deal that tacks a year onto his previous contract. The team is paying hill a whopping $16 million guaranteed over that span.
The #Saints 2-year deal with Taysom Hill is for $21 million with $16 million guaranteed. It also includes another $1 million in earnable incentives. Very, very nice numbers to keep Hill in the fold through the 2021 season.

That should end any speculation that the Saints are not committed to Hill as their quarterback once Brees retires. Though, the guaranteed money could be a reflection of the way they view Hill as more than just a QB.
There has been talk about Brees sharing more snaps with Hill in 2020, and the 41-year-old says he is open to that. Hill was a major factor for the Saints in the postseason last year and wowed fans with his versatility. He only attempted six passes in 2019, but he rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on 27 attempts and caught 19 passes for 234 yards and six scores.
Hill wants to be viewed as a franchise quarterback, and the addition of Winston does not mean the Saints have changed their mind about him. Hill’s new contract is proof of that.
