Report: Todd Gurley could sit out again in Week 17
The Los Angeles Rams decided to play it safe with Todd Gurley on Sunday by sitting him to give his ailing knee more time to heal, and they could do the same for their final regular season game of the year.
With the New Orleans Saints having wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the NFC on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Rams have their eye on the postseason and could hold Gurley out again this week against the San Francisco 49ers.
It’ll be the same story as on Sunday. If he’s healthy, he’ll play. But nothing is more important than the playoffs, so the #Rams’ll be cautious. https://t.co/8HUsMUybCy

Rapoport noted that Gurley tested his knee in warmups on Sunday and “did not feel great,” which has to be at least somewhat concerning for the Rams. They were able to handle the Arizona Cardinals without a problem and should be able to do the same against the 4-11 Niners, so giving Gurley multiple weeks to rest up makes sense.
Gurley has more than 1,800 total yards from scrimmage and has scored 21 touchdowns this season. He is arguably the most important piece of the Rams’ offense, which is why they aren’t going to take any chances with the playoffs just weeks away.
