Tony Romo: Cowboys Are Going to Win a Super Bowl

Tony Romo has received criticism from many sources. Former players are ripping him, saying he doesn’t understand how to play the quarterback position. Opposing players are delighted by his choke jobs. Cowboys fans are burning his jersey. Even when he receives support, that gets shot down.

Romo says he tries to ignore most of the criticism, but he did hear what former Cowboys star Deion Sanders said. The former All-Pro cornerback declared that Romo is not the guy who will lead a team to the Super Bowl.

Unsurprisingly, Romo disagreed.

“Every once in awhile you hear things that come out but that’s not something you search out,” Romo said. “I mean honestly, Deion is welcome to his own opinion about stuff. Deion is Deion. He is what he is.

“We’re going to go out here, we’re going to play good football. This team is going to win a Super Bowl at some point. It’s going to be exciting when that time comes.

“And when we look back, we know who was on what side of the fence during the tough moments.”

If Miles Austin and Dez Bryant healed over the team’s bye week, I can see the Cowboys offense putting up some monster numbers. It’s easy to envision the Cowboys having success, and only a fool would firmly decide that Romo won’t be a Super Bowl quarterback; you never know what is going to happen.

Even if Romo and the Cowboys eventually win a Super Bowl, it won’t change that he has choked away games this season that he shouldn’t have. They blew a big lead to the Jets, and an even bigger lead to the Lions. That shouldn’t happen — even Romo would agree.
