Xavier Woods called for taunting penalty even though Will Hernandez pushed him
Xavier Woods was flagged for a taunting penalty during the third quarter of Monday night’s New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys game, and the penalty call seemed wrong.
Woods pushed Daniel Jones out of bounds just as the Giants quarterback was hitting the sidelines on a run, sending the QB tumbling into a TV crew worker.

Giants guard Will Hernandez ran over after seeing his quarterback pushed to the ground and shoved Woods, who waved his arm back in response.
You can clearly see Will Hernandez shove Xavier Woods.
The referee is standing right next to them.

A penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct was then called on Woods, giving the Giants an extra 15 yards.
Rather than having the ball at the 28, the penalty gave the Giants the ball at the Dallas 13. They ended up with a field goal to close the gap to 16-15.
That penalty made no sense, and what’s even more confounding is the official who called the penalty saw it all happen right in front of him.
