Vince McMahon is serious about setting up the XFL to succeed in its second go-around, and the WWE founder was apparently willing to shell out a ton of money to secure a commitment from the man he wants running the league.
Oliver Luck, the father of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, seemingly took a risk when he decided to leave his job as overseer of the NCAA’s Eligibility Center to become the commissioner of the XFL. However, Michael Smith of Sports Business Journal reports that McMahon gave luck 20 million reasons to make the big change.
Why would Oliver Luck leave a stable job at the NCAA to be commissioner of the XFL, a league that had failed before? Reports @sbjsbd: pic.twitter.com/R7TgD0E6sx

The NCAA Eligibility Center is headquartered in Indianapolis, so Luck is also leaving a job that allowed him to be close to his son. Still, you can understand why he would accept a position that will pay him $20 million guaranteed with the potential for more. It’s unclear what Luck’s annual salary will be since the report did not specify how many years he is signed for, but the compensation seems more than reasonable.
Luck will have a long way to go before he can say he is making anything close to what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell makes, but it sounds like McMahon is giving him a great start.
