Jason Day garnered a lot of attention at the Masters last year for some of his wardrobe selections, but we are apparently not going to see a repeat of that in 2025.
Day left Nike early last year to sign an endorsement deal with Malbon Golf. He made a big effort to put the brand on the map during the 2024 Masters, particularly with a sweater vest he wore that said “No. 313. Malbon Golf Championship” in huge letters across the front.
On Tuesday, Day told reporters that we will not be seeing that vest again at Augusta National this week. The 37-year-old said he had some interesting outfits planned but was asked to tone it down.

“We kind of did, but we kind of cut everything in half,” Day said, via Reuters. “With what we’re supposed to wear, they said that’s a little bit much, but that’s OK. We had to send it in. I think I’m on the short list of guys that have to send their scripting in now. I get it. It was a little bit much on Thursday.”
In addition to the vest, some baggy blue pants that Day wore last year also went viral and got the meme treatment. Masters officials prefer that the attention remain solely on the tournament, and they even went as far as to ask Day to change one of the outfits in 2024.
“It’s good. I understand. We’re here for the tournament,” Day said Tuesday. “This is why we come every April. We’re here to play the tournament and I understand. We’ll do what we can with what we have fashion-wise and enjoy playing the tournament.”
The 2025 Masters will be the 14th of Day’s career. The former PGA Championship winner came close to capturing a green jacket when he finished runner-up in his debut at Augusta National in 2011.
Day’s last PGA Tour appearance was at the Texas Children’s Houston Open last month, where he finished tied for 27th.
