If you were looking for tee times for Saturday’s third round of the PGA Championship and had trouble finding them, there’s a good reason why. One golfer’s decision not to complete his second round because of darkness prevented tee times for Saturday from being posted.
Dutch golfer Joost Luiten chose not to play the 18th hole of his second round on Friday after play was suspended because of darkness. The other golfers in his trio played 18, but they missed the cut, so they had very little to lose.
Luiten was tied for 15th at one-over par when he decided to call it a night and return in the morning. Luiten shot a four-under 68 on Thursday, and he was five over through 17 holes on Friday.
Luiten was scheduled to play the 18th hole and finish his second round at 7:30 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. Tee times for the rest of the field were set to begin at 8:40 a.m. ET.
Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods, and Carl Pettersson entered the third round in a three-way tie for the lead at four-under par.
