Tiger Woods shared a message of support for Rory McIlroy after the 35-year-old won the Masters on Sunday to complete the career grand slam.
McIlroy beat Justin Rose in a 1-hole playoff at Augusta National in Georgia to win the Masters for the first time in his career. McIlroy got off to an incredible start in his career and had won four majors as of 2014, including the PGA Championship twice. However, he then went cold and went 11 years without a major win until now.
Winning the Masters made McIlroy just the sixth golfer to win all four majors. The others are: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Woods.

Tiger congratulated McIlroy in a comment posted to his X profile Sunday night.
“Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the grand slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey has shown through, and now you’re a part of history. Proud of you!” Woods wrote.

Not only do Woods and McIlroy form one-third of the exclusive club, but they are also partners on the TGL, which is a new indoor golf league involving simulators. McIlroy winning the green jacket certainly helps boost his profile, and that helps their joint venture.
Much like Woods, McIlroy got off to a hot start in his golfing career. But Tiger had completed the career grand slam in 2000 at the age of 25, while McIlroy took until the age of 35. McIlroy (5) now has one-third the amount of major wins that Tiger had (15).
