Tiger Woods left some serious doubt about his playing future with comments he made after missing the cut at the US Open.
Woods spoke to reporters after missing the cut at Pinehurst No. 2 by two strokes and admitted he may have just played his last US Open. Still, Woods did leave the door open to at least another attempt at playing next year.

“I’ve only got one more tournament this season,” Woods said. “Even if I win the British Open, I don’t think I’ll be in the [FedEx Cup] playoffs. Just one more event and then I’ll come back whenever I come back. As far as my last Open Championship or US Open championship, I don’t know what that is. It may or may not be.”
It is obvious that Woods is close to the end of his PGA career. The 48-year-old has not finished in the top 40 at a major since 2020, and has missed the cut in each of his last two attempts. The value for him at this point seems to be about making memories with his son as much as it is about competing.
Woods continues to deal with injuries and age, both of which have taken a toll on him. It would be nice if he got the chance to say a proper farewell, but even he does not know exactly when that time will come.
