Alex Morgan engaged to boyfriend Servando Carrasco

We have some disappointing news to pass along to those who fantasized about one day being together with Alex Morgan. The US soccer star announced on her Twitter and Instagram accounts Monday that she got engaged to longtime boyfriend Servando Carrasco.

Well, Morgan didn’t exactly announce the news, but she shared photos of a giant engagement ring staring us blatantly in the face, so it wasn’t too tough to figure out.

“#InstaBling” she captioned the photo.

Morgan and Carrasco received congratulations from many prominent people on Twitter.

Former US women’s national team star Mia Hamm sent her congratulations:

When you think about it, we really shouldn’t be surprised by the news of Morgan’s engagement.

Morgan and Carrasco have been together for over five and a half years. They began dating in college where they were both soccer players at Cal. With all the traveling she was doing for the national team, Morgan said that Skype was the key to their relationship. Last year, Carrasco said in an interview that the two were going to be together for a long time, which seemed like an indication that he planned to propose. A year and a half later, he finally did.

Congratulations to the two, and sorry to all the men out there who were hoping for a breakup.

By the way, isn’t it interesting that Morgan has a boyfriend that she’s engaged to but we hardly hear from him or see him? That could have a lot to do with marketing; Morgan is more appealing to men when it appears that she is single.
