Canadian fans booed the heck out of the Star Spangled Banner when it was sung prior to Saturday night’s game, marking the second time they had done it. Fans in Canada had done the same thing prior to the US’ round robin game against Finland on Thursday night.
You really couldn’t even hear the singer over the loud boos.
After that spectacle, three fights broke out over the first nine seconds, indicating that the bad blood extended from the fans to the players.
The country pride among Canadians was evident. They sang “O Canada” loudly.
Unfortunately for Canada, the US won the game 3-1 to advance to the finals. Canada faces Finland on Monday with a chance to reach the finals, which will take place at TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
