Canucks’ Alex Edler avoids serious injury despite nasty fall

Alex Edler

Alex Edler avoided serious injury despite his nasty fall on Monday night.

The Vancouver Canucks defenseman landed face-first on the ice after a fall against the Philadelphia Flyers. He was bleeding heavily on the ice after the fall and had to be taken away on a stretcher.

Despite the fall, Edler did not suffer any facial fractures. He was just sore as of Tuesday and needed to be stitched up, though he has a concussion and will be out a week.

Edler had four shots on goal and two hits in 19 minutes on the ice in the 2-1 defeat. He has 20 points in 38 games this season.
