Former head coach Jeff Van Gundy typically does an excellent job analyzing NBA games on ABC. He’s funny, he’s honest, he’s entertaining, and he breaks things down well. But there was one point during Game 7 of the NBA Finals that had me weirded out. As the ABC cameras returned from commercial showing shots of all the celebrities at the game in Los Angeles, Van Gundy went off on a tangent about Jennifer Garner’s daughter, talking excessively about how cute the daughter is and how he would offer to babysit her that night. Marc Jackson was alarmed and wanted to get his fellow commentator back on track, and Mike Breen noted that Van Gundy’s trend of that was “disconcerting.” It certainly was. It also set off this chain of amusing reaction on twitter. Check out this compilation response to Jeff Van Gundy’s comments about Jennifer Garner’s daughter:
Congratulations Jeff Van Gundy, you have the NBA record for fastest divergence into creepy commentating in an NBA Final Game 7
Jeff Van Gundy, the next star of “To Catch A Predator”
Jeff Van Gundy a child petifile that’s my word! Yea he said some perv …
Was anyone disturbed by Jeff Van Gundy’s comments on someones daughter? “I saw her grow up”.
You know it’s a bad game when Jeff Van Gundy won’t shut up about Jennifer Garner’s kid …
Jeff Van Gundy keeps digging a hole for himself with these pedo-like comments.
I swear Jeff Van Gundy is a pedifile, he said he wants to baby sit Jennifer Garner’s cute baby after the game, wtf?
Wow Jeff van gundy is creepy. Talking about watching little kids and babysitting. WTF?
Jeff Van Gundy talking on live television about how he’d like to babysit Jennifer Garner’s “cute” daughter=really creepy.
Jennifer Gardner, if you see Jeff Van Gundy…RUN!
Jeff Van Gundy perv alert! ‘Jennifer Garner has the cutest kid ever. I’ve watched her grow up in People. I’d babysit her tonight.’
I’d show a picture because I know you’re curious about Garner’s daughter now, but I don’t want to go there unlike Van Gundy. I do like Jeff and I enjoy his broadcasting, but you have to wonder what he was thinking at this point. Those are comments you keep to yourself, or say when you’re around Ben Affleck or Jennifer Garner. National TV in a Game 7 is the last place you blurt out that sort of sentiment!
