Dana White: Conor McGregor vs Khabib trending toward 3 million PPV buys

Conor McGregor

The UFC 229 fight card headlined by Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is looking it will go down as the best-selling fight in UFC history.

Dana White said on Tuesday that the McGregor-Khabib fight is trending towards doing 3 million pay-per-view buys.

“I could just go on for days with numbers and how it’s scaling,” White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “It’s going to be big. I told you guys that we were trending at 2 million pay-per-view buys. We’re closer to 3 million now. We’re trending closer to 3 million pay-per-view buys for this fight.”

White brought up some statistics that back his expectation. He pointed out how many YouTube views some of the content they’ve posted about the event has generated. He says there have been massive ticket sales from the UK and Ireland and that this will go down as the largest gate for a UFC event in Las Vegas and the second-biggest in UFC history.

This fight is on pace to shatter the UFC’s previous pay-per-view record, and perhaps double it. The highest number the UFC has done is 1.65 million for the McGregor-Nate Diaz rematch. 3 million would make it the third-highest pay-per-view fight ever, trailing McGregor’s boxing match with Floyd Mayweather and Mayweather’s fight with Manny Pacquiao.
