Alicia Sacramone used her Olympics medal to get into a bar when she was 20

Only a select amount of athletes in the world can boast that they have won an Olympics medal, and apparently being in that exclusive club has its privileges.

Gymnast Alicia Sacramone, who won a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing but failed to make the London Olympics team, says she once used her medal to get into a bar.

Sacramone joined Bobby Bones and Andy Roddick on FOX Sports Radio on Saturday and was asked if she ever wore her medal in public to places like bars and restaurants.

“I’m not going to lie,” she told Bones and Roddick, “before I was 21 — because I was 20 at the last Olympics — they were like ‘Do you have an ID?’

“And I’d be like ‘No, but I have an Olympics silver medal, does that count?'” Sacramone said. “They were like ‘uhhh, go inside.'”

Uh oh, we have a law breaker on our hands!

“But I only did that once,” Sacramone assured the hosts.

Phew, at least she isn’t a habitual rule breaker, you know, like half the collegiate population in the U.S. that sneaks into bars.

We already knew that there were plenty of advantages to being an Olympian, but little perks like this should give athletes an extra incentive to try and medal. And if this story doesn’t motivate them, maybe these Scotty Lago pictures will.
