Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten appears to be recovering well from her nasty crash during the women’s road race at the Olympics in Rio on Sunday.

Van Vleuten was leading the race with under 11 km to go when she flipped her bike and landed on her head in a horrific looking crash. Many were concerned about the status of the previous race leader, and all seems to be well for now.

Reporter Raymond Kerckhoffs of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf shared the official statement on van Vleuten, which is that she is conscious and able to communicate. Van Vleuten was taken to the hospital for examination.

Official statement about Van Vleuten: 'She is conscious, able to communicate. Further medical checks currently being made at the hospital.”
