Arsenal fan reportedly lost his house in wager, could have won his friend’s wife

ArsenalIn case you need to be reminded, soccer fans do some pretty insane things. Soccer fans who have gambling problems are even more dangerous. Just ask Arsenal fan Henry Dhabasani, who supposedly made a life-altering bet with a friend before the Arsenal-Manchester United game last weekend.

Dhabasani, who is from Uganda, reportedly has three wives and five children. According to The Mirror, he made a bet with his friend Rashid Yiga that Arsenal would beat Manchester United. Man. U won the game 1-0, which reportedly resulted in Dhabasani having to give Yiga his house. Yes, his house. The wager was said to have been put in writing and witnessed by community leaders in the town where the men live.

The Mirror added, via The Ugandan Observer, that a group of Manchester United fans stormed Dhabasani’s house after the game and forced his wives and children to leave. Had Dhabasani won the bet, he would have been entitled to Yiga’s car — a Toyota — and his wife.

Is this story true? All we can do is pray that it is not. We were under the impression that turning $100 into more than $25,000 with a 23-team parlay was an insane sports bet. This alleged wager puts that to shame.
