Joe Burrow did not hide his frustrations Sunday following the Cincinnati Bengals’ heartbreaking 34-27 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

Burrow nearly led his team to a franchise-record 21-point comeback after falling behind 27-6 early in the second half. He went 28/50 for 356 yards with 3 touchdowns.

The Bengals quarterback also made several incredible plays to keep his team’s hopes alive throughout the contest. But despite Burrow’s best efforts, his team suffered its seventh loss of the season.

During his postgame press conference, Burrow was asked if the current campaign has been the most frustrating season of his career.

“Yeah. Pretty self-explanatory,” Burrow said with the most somber look on his face.

Sunday’s loss to the Chargers was the Bengals’ third defeat with Burrow throwing three or more touchdowns and at least 300 yards without an interception this season — the most such losses for a QB in the Super Bowl era.

In the Bengals’ seven losses this season, Burrow has thrown for 2,156 yards with a 67% completion rate. He’s tallied 18 touchdowns compared to just 2 interceptions during defeats.

At 4-7, the Bengals are not completely out of the playoff picture just yet. But Cincinnati would likely have to go at least 5-1 over their final six games to secure a postseason spot. Given the Bengals’ struggles this season, Burrow may need to go an extra level higher to make that happen.
