Brock Lesnar reportedly signs with WWE
With his MMA career seemingly over, Brock Lesnar is apparently returning to his wrestling roots.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Lesnar is in Miami for WrestleMania 28 and that he has signed a one-year contract with the WWE.
“Lesnar has arrived in Miami [site of tomorrow’s event] and arrived with security and a large group of people shielding him from everyone,” Meltzer wrote Saturday, per 5th Round.com. “This is the going story, but not confirmed, that Lesnar has signed a one year deal and will work a more than Undertaker and less than Goldberg type of schedule.”
Lesnar is still under contract with the UFC, but Ariel Helwani reports that president Dana White would not have a problem with it if Lesnar did sign with the WWE. Rumors of Lesnar’s return to the wrestling ring have swirled since the Undertaker showed up at UFC 121 to watch Brock’s loss to Cain Velasquez. As of last October, Lesnar said he believed he’d eventually return to the WWE.
Lesnar’s MMA career took a major hit when he became afflicted with diverticulitis and required intestinal surgery. He had lost his last two fights and said after his defeat to Alistair Overeem that he was retiring from the octagon.
