Report: Dodgers have turned down offers for Yasiel Puig, will not give him away
Despite the rumors that the Los Angeles Dodgers are desperate to get rid of Yasiel Puig and would take whatever they could get for him, a new report states that that is not the case.
According to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball, team have been lowballing the Dodgers in offers, but the team has resisted them and seem intent on at least getting fair value for him.
“They don’t seem ready to trade him,” Heyman quoted one rival GM as saying.
“This guy has a lot of talent,” another GM said. “They can’t just give him away now.”
Puig is unlikely to play for the Dodgers again, at least in 2016. However, they are impressed with his demeanor since being demoted, and he has also played well at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers were reportedly trying to pawn Puig off onto anyone who would take him, but this runs counter to that report. Puig remains just 25 years old and has shown his talent, so it makes sense that they would at least demand some sort of return for him.
