Max Scherzer says wife threw his no-hitter jersey in the trash
Max Scherzer has thrown two no-hitters in his career, and the Washington Nationals pitcher saved momentos from both of them. His wife Erica doesn’t seem to have an appreciation for that.
On Wednesday, Scherzer tweeted a photo of what he claims was the jersey he wore during his second no-hitter stuffed in the trash. His wife apparently thought it was garbage.
Wife was cleaning up the house and threw away a "dirty" Jersey… It was the 2nd No Hitter Jersey! #ShesSleepingOnTheCouch pic.twitter.com/MJJQJytWCW

How did Scherzer respond? By throwing some of his wife’s handbags in the trash.
Oh look! I found some "dirty" purses… #JustDoingHouseChores pic.twitter.com/6qKveY1EsH

The real question here is why Scherzer doesn’t have the no-hitter jerseys framed or tucked away somewhere safe. It’s been more than a year since he threw his second no-hitter, so you’d think he would have done something nice with the jersey by now.
As we have learned from exchanges like the one he had with Dusty Baker this season, Scherzer has a great sense of humor. Maybe he just wanted to make his wife look bad and set this whole thing up himself. Maybe.
