Tigers expected to listen to trade offers for Ian Kinsler after season
The Detroit Tigers are embracing their rebuild and could be ready to trade more players in the coming months. One such player who could be moved is Ian Kinsler.
Kinsler has a $10 million option for next season the Tigers are expected to pick up. After that, Fan Rag Sports’ Jon Heyman says they will likely field trade offers for the second baseman.
Kinsler and his reasonable contract were claimed off waivers in August, but Heyman says the Tigers blocked the claims. Detroit Free Press writer Anthony Fenech says the Angels, who acquired Justin Upton on Thursday, were one of the teams to submit a claim on Kinsler.
Justin Upton wasn't the only Tigers veteran the Angels were eyeing: They were one of multiple teams to place a waiver claim on Ian Kinsler.

Although Kinsler is having a down season and batting just .241 with a .718 OPS, the 35-year-old slugged 28 home runs in 2016 and could be viewed as a good deal at $10 million next season.
